Radiography
The Radiography Department curriculum combines science, general education, and professional courses conducted on the college's Bethlehem Campus with extensive clinical education performed at area hospitals. Students learn with state-of-the-art imaging technology in the two radiographic rooms in the Wogenrich Lab, allowing them to practice their skills in structured and competency-based education.
The courses in the curriculum are designed to build sequentially upon the knowledge learned in previous courses. Therefore, all required courses must be taken in sequence, and all prerequisites must be met prior to registration. Clinical education at affiliated hospitals is scheduled during both summer sessions at the end of the first year, for 40 hours per week.
Graduates of the program will be able to use knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques to accurately show anatomical structures on a radiograph. They also learn to anticipate patient needs and provide appropriate patient education while exercising good judgment in all aspects of their work.
Radiography is a fall-start clinical program. The application opens October 1 and must be completed by February 1.

The modalities in radiology - including CT, MRI and more - are advancing technologically at an astounding rate. With that in mind, Northampton's Radiography Program introduces its students to all modalities within the curriculum. Our Radiography program is innovative, educationally sound, and vital in providing medical imaging services for the community-at-large.
Program Information
If you are a Northampton Community College student living outside of Pennsylvania or intending to complete an internship or clinical placement outside of the state in a NCC program leading to professional licensure, you should review requirements on the state board website to make sure that the program qualifies.
Licensure requirements vary from state to state and you may require additional authorization from the professional licensing agency in that state. Participating in a program from outside of Pennsylvania, if not properly authorized by that state's professional licensing board, could result in loss of licensing eligibility. If you need help or have questions, please contact the Radiography Program Director for more information.
Most states accept American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification and Registration for licensure purposes. Some states have additional permitting requirements for particular procedures e.g. fluoroscopy in California. View state licensure information.
Career Opportunities
Radiographers are important members of the diagnostic health care team and are responsible for producing high quality medical images that assist medical specialists and doctors to diagnose or monitor a patient's injury or illness. There is significant patient contact and a radiographer plays an important part in improving patient outcomes and experiences.
