Pre-Service Meeting with the Accessibility Resource Center

The other part of the process for obtaining accommodations at Northampton is the pre-service meeting with the Accessibility Resource Center staff. This interactive meeting is an essential part of the process to determine eligibility for reasonable and appropriate accommodations. During your meeting, you will discuss the nature and impact of your disability in a learning environment. You will also learn how accommodations are provided for students at NCC and discuss your new role as a self-advocate in requesting reasonable accommodations.

In preparation for your preservice meeting, it will be important for you to be able to discuss the following questions:

  1. Discuss your disability/disabilities.
  2. Describe how your disability affects you in an academic environment.
  3. Describe the accommodations and special education supports you have received in the past, if applicable.
  4. Describe the reasonable academic accommodations you are requesting in college, and how they mitigate the effects of a disability.

To schedule your Pre-Service Meeting, contact the Accessibility Resource Center. This meeting may be completed at either the Bethlehem or Monroe campuses, or by phone or video conferencing for online students.
