Philips Family Fire Technology Scholarship in Memory of Bob Philips 

Five generations of the Philips and Marsh families have served in the Stroudsburg Fire Department. Bob served over 72 years as a firefighter in Stroudsburg. Robert "Sandy" Philips, son of Bob Philips, created this scholarship to memorialize his father's service to the community and to Monroe County. Sandy, received an Associate in Arts degree in general education and an Associate in Applied Science degree in fire technology from NCC.  

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students who are majoring in Emergency Services Technology, Fire Technology tract
  • First preference is given to a resident of Monroe County who is an active volunteer firefighter
  • Second preference is given to a resident of Northampton County who is an active volunteer firefighter
  • If there are no applicants who meet the first or second preference, the scholarship will be awarded to students majoring in Emergency Services Technology, Fire Technology tract.  

Sean Cameron Memorial Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship has been established by Bob and Cathy Cameron to honor the memory of their son, Sean Cameron, a Notre Dame High School student, soccer player, and member of the Forks Township Junior Firefighter program. The award supports Northampton Community College students who aspire to careers in emergency services.  

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

  • This scholarship is open to any Northampton Community College student majoring in emergency services. Preference shall be given to graduates of Easton, Nazareth, Notre Dame (Green Pond), Wilson, Pen Argyl, Bangor, Pius X, and CIT high schools.  

The Guy Tomaino Memorial Firefighters Endowment

Guy B. Tomaino dedicated the major part of his life to helping other people. Guy joined the Wilson Fire Department in 1956 at the age of 30. In, 1966, after having served the community as an assistant fire chief for several years, he was named chief.  Chief Tomaino also found the time to study fire technology at NCC and received an associate degree in fire technology from the college in 1975. The Guy Tomaino Memorial Firefighters Endowment was established to honor his memory, because of his tireless service to the community and his commitment to firefighting as a career.  

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

  • To provide scholarship money sufficient enough to underwrite a part-time student for up to four courses in fire technology (or related courses in the degree program) each academic year.  

To apply to the Emergency Services Scholarships, follow the steps below. 

1.  Apply To NCC

You must be admitted as a student and registered to Northampton to be considered for a scholarship. If you haven't yet, apply now!

2. Complete FAFSA

In order to be considered for a scholarship, your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) must be completed.

3. Submit a Scholarship Application

Once your scholarship application has been submitted, you will receive an email confirmation that your application was received (no additional steps are required).
